DSVR-01738 , Confusion, and Disarray: The Role of Japanese Doctors during the Second World War
## Introduction
One of the most significant crimes committed by the Japanese military during the Second World War was the forced prostitution of Japanese and Japanese women, also referred to as "comfort women". Many of the individuals involved were Japanese and Japanese women. The exact number of such women is unknown, but it is believed that approximately 200,000 women were involved. The reasons for these crimes are both varied and sometimes quite perplexing. One of the reasons cited as being the likely cause for the tragedy was the later introduced variables of Japanese waged war against the United States. Furthermore, the topic of Japanese soldiers' involvement has gone unaddressed in the historical record almost entirely. Moreover, it appears that the Japanese military has known about these atrocities prior to releasing their official story of the involvement in war. This implies that the Japanese military did not want to disclose these crimes to the public, which would bring about a more significant backlash against the government that would potentially derail the Japanese war effort.
